Military garments often contributed to the details of clothing; during the Crimean War James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan and Major General of the British Army, led the Light Brigade wearing a collarless knitted jacket of English worsted wool. This piece was modeled on the knitted wool waistcoat that British officers supposedly wore during the war. And so the cardigan first appeared in the military world. Our version of this heritage sweater has a collar, cuffs, hem and solid color ribbed pocket and a brushing that gives a felt-like vintage look.
