Wide-leg pleated cotton pants, made from garment-dyed parachute canvas.
Parachute is a lightweight, airy, and almost weightless fabric, originally produced in tightly woven silk to achieve high tear resistance. Thanks to its strength and ability to trap air, during the Second World War silk parachute fabric was primarily used in military applications, particularly for aviators’ parachutes. With the shift in production from silk to cotton, parachute canvas found its way into clothing, retaining a reference to its origins in its name.
The fit is relaxed, enhanced by the elasticated back waistband. Two front pleats, stitched down at the hips, create a controlled volume and are designed to improve the overall fit.
