Moleskine Jacket

The chore coat originated in France in the late 1800s, initially designed for farmers and laborers. It was made of tear- and wear-resistant fabrics. Its most recognizable feature is the presence of numerous pockets that allow for the carrying of any type of tool. This aspect favored its use in the early 1900s, even among laborers and railroad construction workers. With its arrival in the United States, it began to be called a chore coat, literally “work jacket.” The chore coat is a versatile jacket, very easy to wear thanks to its fit and features: a boxy and relaxed fit, patch pockets, button closure, and collar. Made of moleskine, an ancient material widely used in workwear for its resistance and durability. The “peach feel” is created by brushing the front of the fabric, usually cotton. We have developed a treatment for this material that reproduces a vintage image: dusty, worn, and irregular. It is combined with canvas for details and inserts. On this chore coat, the collar, pockets, and hem are slightly rounded. The lower pockets are slightly offset to the side to emphasize the wash on the seams.
